Welcome to Winter 2018-2019
Our first honest snowstorm is inbound. Currently the radar is blank but that will change by this afternoon. As it looks now, the heaviest snow will hug the Minnesota River Valley from South Dakota border down to Mankato towards Austin. Across the Metro, snow will start to fall just as rush hour peaks this afternoon. It will be a nuisance snowfall for the most part with snow totals ranging from 2-3” highest in the southwest metro towards Jordan and Belle Plaine and least towards Stillwater. The far northern metro will only see a dusting to around an inch. The bigger story with this clipper will be the winds and falling temperatures. Winds will pick up out of the north at 10-15mph and temperatures will drop down into the upper teens which will allow that freshly fallen snow to turn to ice under the rush hour traffic.
